Karlie Kloss is no stranger to being the hot topic. After her nude pics and photoshopped ribs, you’d think she’d want to stay away from controversy! Well, Victoria’s Secret didn’t help her last week. They sent her stomping down the runway during the 2012 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in this fringed leather bikini, an overload of turquoise jewels, and (the most important item of all) a towering Native American headdress replica. Not such a great idea, VS.
The Native American community was less than pleased (especially since it was a short 3 days after Gwen Stefani and No Doubt were forced to pull their music video because Gwen was.. yes, wearing a sexy Native American getup). Why are the Native American garbs taking so much heat? Among other offensive reasons, the headdress is a traditional sacred item that is being used as a costume. Native women are insulted that they are thought of as a relic/theme/trend of the past.
Victoria’s Secret has decided to pull the controversial look from the fashion show’s broadcast and any other press. A representative from the company told Huffington Post, “We are sorry that the Native American headdress replica used in our recent fashion show has upset individuals. We sincerely apologize as we absolutely had no intention to offend anyone. Out of respect, we will not be including the outfit in any broadcast, marketing materials nor in any other way.”
To make this all worse, November is Native American Heritage Month.
For most of 2011, Jenna Lyons has been on top of the world. She was on Oprah. She got a sweet promotion. Michelle Obama was like J. Crew’s unofficial spokesmodel. She even painted her son’s toenails pink and people actually defended her. Everything was gravy.
But it looks like something else was brewing while Jenna was enjoying her success. Not only are her and her husband of 9 years divorcing, but apparently Jenna is also shacking up with a lesbian lover. Drama!
As if the lesbian lover part weren’t dramatic enough, there’s also the custody of the couple’s son, Beckett, to deal with and the whole who gets what issue.
Seems like a sad situation for everyone involved–except maybe for the unnamed lover–and totally shocking. Are you surprised to hear about Jenna Lyons’ divorce? What about the lesbian lover??
Remember when everyone was so surprised back in August that someone was actually dumb enough to marry Tara Reid Tara Reid got married? She tweeted a pic of her engagement ring one day, then announced she was married the next. Classic Tara, right?
Well, turns out she isn’t exactly married. Tara and that dude (I mean, Zack Kehayov) may have had a ceremony on the beach, but it’s not legal. And it seems like Tara is happy about it not being legal because she’s the one who leaked told TMZ the story.
So why on Earth would someone scourge the sanctity of marriage by staging a fake wedding? Oh, let us count the ways.
1. This is Tara Reid we’re talking about. Can we really expect much more from a chick who was poses like this?
2. She got herself a nice ring out of the whole thing. Although if the marriage isn’t real, can we be sure the ring is?
3. Oh yeah, and a magazine spread. Granted, it was only Life & Style, but Tara Reid hasn’t been relevant in like, 3 years, so look what 1 little fake wedding did for her.
Why so many people want to dress like a woman who probably killed her own child astounds me.
According to TMZ, tons of costumes stores are receiving requests for Casey Anthony Halloween costumes. The problem? Most Halloween costume manufacturers don’t want to produce them.
And with good reason. Halloween is supposed to be fun and there’s nothing fun, or funny, about a mother who was accused of taking her own child’s life.
It’s already kind of annoying that girls feel the need to dress as slutty as possible on Halloween, but now we’re going one step further and dressing like accused baby killers. Makes me so proud to be woman…
